Hjort Knudsen

Hjort Knudsen is a family-owned business that designs, manufactures and supplies modern armchairs, sofas and beds, all upholstered in top-quality cold cure foam and/or down.

Their mission is to create furniture in a modern, classic design that brings pleasure and comfort into people’s lives.

The company is known in the furniture industry as being highly innovative, and as the developer and owner of various patented techniques that improve the user’s comfort.

A wide range of customisation options are available for each piece of furniture, in terms of both design and comfort.

At Hjort Knudsen, optimising production is always a high priority. This applies across the board, from the first sketches to purchasing, manufacture and delivery. They are constantly focused on achieving the best possible quality for the best possible price. This is how they create value for their customers – both now and in the future.

They deliver their furniture to their customers using both their own lorries and via container-based sales.

Their head office is located in West Jutland in Denmark, close to Billund Airport.

The manufacture of a piece of upholstered furniture is still carried out according to traditional artisan principles.

All their furniture is produced at Hjort Knudsen’s own manufacturing plants in Europe, where 2300 skilled employees daily create chairs, sofas and beds from start to finish. This is also where they test their furniture and sub-components for long-term durability.

Their employees follow their high standards and the final quality control checks ensure that the furniture passes these high standards. An upholstered piece of furniture that partially consists of cold cure foam and fabrics can however have small variations – this is a sign of true craftsmanship.

Hjort Knudsen has chosen to manufacture components for the furniture itself, in order to control the quality and security of supply as best as possible. This is why they produce their own moulded seats/cushions, for example, as well as their own steel and wooden frames.

They regularly invest in the latest technologies, machinery, production facilities and not least skilled employees to future-proof quality and durability in the products.

Hjort Knudsen’s head office is in Denmark, but they work across national borders with colleagues who assist with problems and development on a daily basis. They respect the countries and local communities they are a part of, which is why they also support local projects.

They have also chosen to support an SOS Children’s Village in the countries where their primary manufacturing is based. More specifically, in Ukraine and Poland. They have chosen SOS Children’s Villages as a multi-annual primary sponsorship to aid their long-term work.

At Hjort Knudsen they are constantly reconsidering ther production processes, including in terms of environmentally friendly production. They appreciate that over the past 25 years, the EU has focused on limiting the discharge of dangerous substances, which has led to the chemical legislation REACH. They comply with the limit values in this legislation.
